The Saucony Cohesion 6 is the real stability shoe of the Saucony range, manufactured specifically so that you have a shoe that is capable of going the distance whilst also performing to the specifications of your foot. Much like other Saucony lines, it utilises the brands signature looks to make your feet stand out from the crowd whilst coming with a price tag that makes it an affordable alternative to many other brands you may be considering purchasing. If you want a well balanced shoe with excellent medial support, then definitely give the Saucony Cohesion 6 a consideration.
Much like with other Saucony shoes the color scheme throughout the Saucony Cohesion 6 is bright and bold which makes instantly recognizable as a product of the company. The main color is typically a bright variation of blue, pink or green with overlays and soles tending to be a little lighter and thus understated in scope. The weighting of the shoe is also excellent. It looks sufficiently slim and sleek whilst also looking robust enough to be utilized for hundreds of miles thanks to the sole of the shoe.
UPPER SOLE DESIGN
The upper of the Saucony Cohesion 6 is just as impressive as it looks thanks to several key design steps taken by the company. The breathable mesh on the top has been redesigned to be somewhat thinner than in the previous incarnation of the Saucony shoe, which adds greatly to the comfortableness of the shoe. There is also now a step-in Strobel board located towards the mid of the shoe for better step in comfort. This also aids the medial arch of the shoe and its overall rigidity considerably.
The insole has also been manufactured to be highly satisfactory to your foot design. There is additional padding located towards the rear of the shoe, especially around the heel to add additional comfort to the ride whilst the toe box itself sees sufficient padding to ensure that blistering and toe-off pain is kept to a minimum.
The sole unit that comes with the Saucony Cohesion 6 has also been redesigned and tweaked to make it fit better to your feet. One of the steps taken was to ensure that the decoupled heel, which works in two ways. On the one hand, it provides sufficient rebound when you go through the strike pattern on your foot. Yet at the same time, on the other side of the heel, the shoe counters your potential overpronation and this ensures that your running style remains smooth and effortless.
The midsole, especially around the medial arch also sees a reworking that makes this particular redesign highly pleasing. As previously mentioned, the Strobel board offers better mid foot support and moulds effortlessly to the arch in your foot. On the sole itself, an IMEVA midsole offers sufficient flexibility and padding throughout the mid of the shoe whilst also ensuring that you remain in control of your feet and their direction.
The cushioning of the Saucony Cohesion 6 is excellent. One of the key complaints focused upon the Cohesion 5 was the cushioning was a little uneven and this has been addressed with this incarnation. Heel support is fantastic and at the forefoot of the shoe, the flexibility and padding ensure adequate toe-off mixed with good overall control. The midsole of the shoe also has good cushioning to the medial arch, which greatly aids comfort.
Flexibility is also not a key issue. Several deep grooves extend from the rear of the shoe to just behind the toes and these give sufficient bend to the shoe. Control is not an issue as they are cut just deep enough to ensure your foot remains comfortable at all stages. The upper is also suitably flexible and supportive.
